The Fight Against COVID-19 in the Palestinian Authority (PA) (Updated to June 8, 2020)

During the past week (since June 2, 2020) 14 additional cases of COVID-19 were detected in Judea and Samaria, and there are now 38 active cases. The geographical distribution according to districts is the following: 17 cases in Hebron, 16 in Qalqilya, four in Jenin and one in a village near Jerusalem. There was no change in the number of active cases in the neighborhoods of east Jerusalem.

The Fight Against COVID-19 in the Gaza Strip (Updated to June 7, 2020)

The ministry of health in the Gaza Strip announced that there are currently 70 cases of COVID-19, 28 of them active (as of June 6, 2020). All the cases are being treated in the quarantine hospital at the Rafah Crossing, after a number of new cases were detected among quarantined Gazans. So far 41 patients recovered, of whom 14 were discharged to their home, and 27 are still in the quarantine center at the Rafah Crossing. One woman has died. So far 11,025 tests have been conducted, 10,955 with negative results (Dunia al-Watan, report from the ministry of health, updated to June 6, 2020).

The Palestinian Authority plans to establish a bank to enable it to transfer payments to Palestinian prisoners and the families of shaheeds.

The Commander of the IDF's Central Command issued an order on May 9, 2020, banning the provision of banking services in Judea and Samaria to Palestian terrorist prisoners and the families of shaheeds. A number of Palestinian and Arab banks announced they were freezing the activity of the accounts of the prisoners and the families of shaheeds.

Palestinian Authority launches campaign to prevent Israeli application of its sovereignty in Judea and Samaria (updated to June 2, 2020)

On May 19, 2020, a meeting of the Palestinian leadership was held in Ramallah, headed by Mahmoud Abbas. The meeting was about Israel’s intention to apply its sovereignty on parts of Judea and Samaria. It was attended by Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh, members of both the Fatah Central Committee and the PLO Executive Committee.

The Fight Against COVID-19 in the Palestinian Authority (PA) (Updated to June 1, 2020)

This past week 20 new COVID-19 cases were detected in the PA territories, most of them in the Qalqilya district. The PA ministry of health began conducting sample testing in the various districts to verify if they are corona-free. In view in the decline in the rate of infection the PA decided to relax some restrictions in districts where there were no COVID-19 cases, while taking the necessary precautions. On May 31, 2020, prayers were renewed on the Temple Mount.

The Fight Against COVID-19 in the Gaza Strip (Updated to May 31, 2020)

This past week six new cases of COVID-19 were detected in the Gaza Strip, bringing the total number to 61, of which 42 are active. All the cases entered the Gaza Strip through the Rafah Crossing. In ITIC assessment Hamas's fight against the coronavirus is under control. According to a website based in London, the number of cases and deaths in the Gaza Strip is far larger that what has been reported. So far the information has not been verified.
