The “Great Return March:” Last Friday’s riots and the coming two days (May 14 and 15)

The events of last Friday (May 11, 2018) were also characterized by the violent behavior of the demonstrators, which peaked when they sabotaged and seriously damaged vital installations at the Kerem Shalom crossing for the second week in a row (resulting in the crossing’s being closed). Hamas and other organizations are currently preparing for the climax of the “Great Return March” on May 14 (the day the United States relocates its embassy to Jerusalem) and May 15 (Nakba Day).

Events of the “Great Return March” are expected to reach their peak on May 14 and 15, 2018, with mass penetration into Israel, accompanied by violence and terrorism

The events of the “Great Return March”, which started on March 30, 2018, are expected to reach their peak on two consecutive dates: May 14, the day on which the US Embassy will be transferred from Tel Aviv to its new location in Jerusalem; and May 15, on which Palestinians mark Nakba Day. The month of Ramadan, which will probably begin on May 16 (depending on the new moon), may also contribute to the expected violence.

The “Great Return March:” Demonstrations of May 4, 2018, and continuation to be expected

The acts of violence on Friday, May 4, 2018, continued for the sixth week since the violent demonstrations (“the Great Return March”) began on March 30, 2018. Around 10,000 demonstrators (similar to the previous Friday) participated in the Friday demonstrations in six locations near the security fence. The climax of the violent events was when dozens of demonstrators broke into the Palestinian side of the Kerem Shalom crossing, damaging equipment and gas and fuel storage facilities.

“History lecture” by Mahmoud Abbas: At the opening of the PNC session, Mahmoud Abbas delivered a speech of fake history and anti-Semitism

The deliberations of the 23rd Palestinian National Congress (PNC) started on April 30, 2018, in Ramallah. At the opening of the Congress, Mahmoud Abbas delivered a long speech, which included many topics. One of them, to which he dedicated about 20 minutes of his speech, was a “history lecture” replete with fake history. This part of the speech, which was full of inaccuracies and distorted names and dates, dealt with denying the connection of the Jews to the Land of Israel.

“Molotov kites” – a new means of causing damage to Israel as part of the violent demonstrations of the “Great Return March”

In recent weeks, during the riots of the “Great Return March,” we are witnessing a new phenomenon of sending kites toward Israeli territory, with inflammable materials attached to their tails (hereinafter: “Molotov kites”). The purpose of sending the Molotov kites is to cause damage to Israel by setting fire to fields and Israeli communities adjacent to the border fence between Israel and the Gaza Strip.

Following the events of the Great Return March, anti-Israeli activists in Europe are trying to organize a flotilla to the Gaza Strip (initial report)

Concurrently with the events of the Great Return March, the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, an umbrella framework of organizations engaged in sending flotillas to the Gaza Strip, announced that preparations were being made to send a flotilla to “break the siege” over the Gaza Strip (Al-Aqsa, April 15, 2018). The flotilla, which numbers several boats (currently four or five), is expected to depart for the Gaza Strip from several European countries (Twitter, PalInfo, April 9, 2018).
