Most of the Palestinians killed in Judea and Samaria since January 1, 2022, who died during Israeli security force counterterrorism activities were terrorist operatives

In 2022 the Israeli security forces continued been carrying out intensive counterterrorism activities in Judea and Samaria. According to ITIC records, Israeli counterterrorism activities and clashes with Palestinians, carried out from January 1, 2022, to July 14, 2022, led to the deaths of 49 Palestinians, a relatively high number compared to previous years. Of the 49 Palestinians killed, 33 (67%) belonged to one of the Palestinian terrorist organizations. Sixteen (33%) Palestinians who were killed had no organizational affiliation.

Break-in to Kuje Prison in Nigeria: another ISIS activity to liberate prisoners

On the night of July 5, 2022, ISIS operatives attacked Kuje Prison, southwest of Abuja, the capital of Nigeria. Most of the prisoners were liberated in the break-in stage Breaking into prisons to liberate its own prisoners is a known ISIS modus operandi. Reactions to Israel’s interception of Hezbollah espionage drones near the Karish gas field (Updated to July 6, 2022)

On July 2, 2022, an IDF plane and gunboat intercepted three hostile drones launched from Lebanon towards the airspace over Israel's economic waters . Hezbollah claimed responsibility. The Lebanese prime minister and foreign minister called the drone launch unacceptable and said it could endanger Lebanon. Hezbollah's political opponents, especially Samir Geagea's Lebanese Forces Party, distanced themselves from the event.

The Jenin Battalion: a non-aligned organization of terrorists operating against the Israeli security forces

The Jenin Battalion is a network of armed terrorist operatives in the Jenin refugee camp. Apparently the Jenin Battalion serves as a new model for networks of Palestinians terrorist operatives in Judea and Samaria wanting to attack Israeli security forces. Moreover, the PIJ's military-terrorist wing is interested in exporting the model to other cities in Judea and Samaria. The founding of the Nablus, Tulkarm and Bethlehem Battalions was recently announced, and in the future they may establish their own joint operations room.

ISIS’s Sikh temple attack and its implications

On June 18, 2022, ISIS’s Khorasan Province carried out a combined attack on a Sikh temple in Kabul and a Taliban member were killed. According to ISIS’s claim of responsibility, the attack was carried out as an act of defense of the honor of Muhammad, and an act of vengeance against the “Sikh and Hindu infidels” due to offensive statements by senior officials in India’s ruling party against the Prophet of Islam. The attack on the Sikh temple is was intended to portray the organization as the “protector of Islam”
