The British-based al-Hiwar TV provides a platform for Ibrahim al-Madhoun, a member of Hamas’ department of national relations, who operates from Turkey

On February 28, 2022, a conference was held of the "popular committee of the Palestinian dispersal" (which is affiliated with Hamas and represents the Palestinians abroad). Among the participants were Dr. Azzam al-Tamimi, a British subject from Hebron, who is director of London's al-Hiwar TV in Arabic. He exploited a stay in Turkey to broadcast a series of panel discussions from Istanbul. Ibrahim al-Madhoun, a member of Hamas' department of national relations, was a guest on several programs; al-Madhoun is close to Yahya al-Sinwar and has lived in Turkey since 2018. Al-Madhoun is known for his extremist positions, statements to media outlets and written work, all of which follow official Hamas propaganda, including the call for terrorist attacks against Israel.

Fatah and the Palestinian Authority adopt the three terrorists killed in Nablus

On February 8, 2022, during an Israeli security force activity in Nablus three Palestinian terrorists were killed. They were members of the al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades (Fatah's military terrorist wing) and responsible for a recent series of shooting attacks targeting IDF forces and Israeli civilians, and were planning more. A large quantity of weapons were found in their vehicle (Israeli media, February 8, 2022). The Palestinian media reported the three were Ashraf al-Mabslat, Adhem Mabrouk and Muhammad al-Dakheil, all operatives in the al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades.

The killing of ISIS’s leader in an operation by US forces in Syria and possible implications

US President Joe Biden announced that ISIS leader Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurashi was killed in an operation carried out by US Special Forces on the night of February 2-3, 2022, in the village of Atmeh in the Idlib Province in northwestern Syria. CENTCOM Commander General Kenneth F. McKenzie noted that ISIS's leader blew himself up at the start of the operation because he refused to surrender to the US forces and that he and members of his immediate family were killed in the explosion (US Department of Defense website, February 4, 2022).

ISIS’s takeover of the prison in Al-Hasakah, which it presents as an achievement, may bring about additional such actions

On January 20, 2022, about 200 ISIS operatives broke into the Al-Sina'ah-Ghuwayran Prison in the Al-Sina'ah neighborhood of Al-Hasakah, where over 4,000 ISIS operatives were held by the Kurdish forces (SDF). The attack, which is the largest action carried out by ISIS since its defeat in Al-Baghouz (March 2019), began with the detonation of two car bombs at the checkpoint at the prison gate. Then, dozens of armed operatives stormed the prison. There were heavy exchanges of fire and prisoners started to escape.

ISIS’s West Africa Province Grooms the Organization’s Next Generation

On January 18, 2022, the information office of ISIS's West Aafrican Province published a video entitled "The Empowerment Generation" (jil al-tamkin). The 27-minute video depicts the indoctrination and training of African youths at an ISIS training camp called "The institute for the lion cubs of the Caliphate" (Telegram, January 18, 2022). The location of the camp is not given is probably situated in northeastern Nigeria, which is where ISIS's West African Province operates.
