Spotlight on Global Jihad (October 20-26, 2022)

ISIS’s relatively moderate activity around the world continues. On the other hand, the Al-Qaeda-affiliated Al-Shabaab Organization in Somalia continues its intensive activity against the Somali government. The Iraqi forces’ counterterrorism activity against ISIS continues, alongside sporadic attacks carried out by ISIS in the country. Nigeria: It has been reported that ISIS’s West Africa Province and Boko Haram set up camps in Zamfara State, in northwestern Nigeria. This may indicate the expansion of those organizations to other states in Nigeria.

Spotlight on Global Jihad (October 7-19, 2022)

Over the past two weeks, ISIS has concentrated its activity in and Afghanistan. The downtrend in the scope of its activity around the world the Afghan Ministry of the Interior compound in Kabul, resulting in the death of 25 people and dozens of wounded. The Egyptian security forces continued their counterterrorism efforts. Syria: ISIS continued to operate against the Kurdish forces and the Syrian army. A total of 19 Syrian soldiers were killed in the explosion of an IED near a military bus on the outskirts of Damascus.

Spotlight on Iran (September 29, 2022 – October 20, 2022)

In light of the ongoing protests in Iran, the Syrian regime voiced its support for Tehran. A Syrian opposition-aligned news outlet report on the assignment of a new Iranian commander in charge of the Iran-backed militias operation in the area of eastern Syria. A website affiliated with the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, presented the agreement concerning the maritime border between Israel and Lebanon as “another victory of the resistance. An Iraqi delegation visit to Tehran to discuss the ongoing Iranian strikes on the Kurdistan region in northern Iraq.

Over the past two weeks, ISIS has concentrated its activity mainly in Afghanistan and Africa The Israeli security forces detained six residents of Nazareth on suspicion of planning to carry out attacks for ISIS The Egyptian security forces continued their counterterrorism efforts In the Sinai Peninsula. Two suicide bombing attacks were carried out in Kabul, claiming dozens of lives. In Syriathe Kurdish security forces revealed ISIS’s intentions to carry out an attack against the Al-Hawl camp.

Spotlight on Iran (September 15, 2022 – September 29, 2022)

Iran International channel, which is aligned with the Iranian opposition, reported that the strike attributed to Israel, carried out near Damascus targeted the Iran's logistics unit of the Lebanon Corps of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC). Iran informed its willingness to provide Lebanon with 600,000 tons of fuel over the span of five months. The Iraqi national security adviser met with the deputy commander of the Intelligence Organization of the IRGC and discussed ways to bolster intelligence cooperation between the two nations.

This week, there was relatively limited ISIS activity around the globe. In spite of the severe blow sustained by the leadership of ISIS’s Sinai Province, the organization continued its activity . ISIS continued to attack the Kurdish forces in the Deir ez-Zor-Al-Mayadeen region In Nigeria, there were clashes between operatives of ISIS’s West Africa Province and Boko Haram operatives. ISIS claimed responsibility for the organization’s activity in Benin.
