Spotlight on Global Jihad (April 4-19, 2023)

During the past few days, ISIS has carried out moderate activity around the world. In the region of Deir ez-Zor-al-Mayadeen in Syria, several attacks were carried out against the Kurdish SDF forces. A Syrian officer was killed north of Daraa. In Somalia, the Army announced that it had managed to liberate additional villages controlled Al-Shabaab. In Mali An Al-Qaeda-affiliated source announced that the organization was responsible for the attack in which the chief of staff of the army of Mali’s transitional government was killed.

Spotlight on Terrorism: Hezbollah, Lebanon and Syria (April 6-20, 2023)

During the past two weeks the leadership of the "resistance axis" exploited the riots on the Temple Mount, Ramadan and World Jerusalem Dayto increase their threats against Israel.In Lebanon, Hezbollah and terrorist organizations' leadership threatened Israel during interviews and at meetings and rallies, some of them calling for the destruction of Israel. In addition to threats, during the Passover holiday Israel was attacked with rocket fire from south Lebanon, southern Syria and the Gaza Strip.

Spotlight on Global Jihad (April 4-19, 2023)

During the past two weeks, there has been a moderate increase in ISIS’s activity around the world. The organization’s centers of activity were in Syria, Nigeria, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It should be noted that these two weeks occurred during the month of Ramadan, when the organization tends to dramatically increase its activity. In ISIS continues its activity in the desert region against truffle collectors and security personnel guarding them. In Nigeria ISIS continued to carry out attacks in northeastern and even expanded its activity to other areas. In Burkina Faso Terrorist operatives killed 44 people in two villages. The editorial of ISIS’s weekly Al-Naba dealt with Iranian and Hezbollah involvement in the Jerusalem issue, calling on Sunni Muslims not to cooperate with them.

Spotlight on Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (April 3-18, 2023)

During the past two weeks Palestinians carried out nine terrorist attacks in Judea, Samaria and inside Israeli. A mother and her two daughters and a tourist from Italy were killed. The Israeli security forces continued their counterterrorism activities,. The main arenas were Jericho, Nablus and Jenin.On the night of the Passover Seder and in the following days dozens of rockets were fired at Israeli territory, atypically from three different arenas. The pretext for the rocket fire was the riot at al-Aqsa mosque. Isma'il Haniyeh, head of Hamas' political bureau, paid a visit to Lebanon, and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) leader Ziyad al-Nakhalah paid a visit to Iraq.. The Palestinians scored a political achievement in the UN, and on May 15 the General Assembly will mark Nakba Day.

Rocket Fire Targeting Israel

The pretext for the rocket fire was the riot at al-Aqsa mosque when Israeli police and Palestinians clashed on the night of April 4, 2023. For the Palestinians, Hezbollah and other Arabs the incidents signified the so-called "unity of the fronts," a Palestinian-Hezbollah strategy employed against Israel, and they regard the events as a "victory" They also claim that firing rockets from three arenas revealed their ability to "conquer" Israel .

Spotlight on Iran (April 2-13, 2023)

The Greek police detained two Pakistanis on suspicion of planning terrorist attacks against Israelis in Athens, directed by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps' (IRGC) Qods Force. The Iranian embassy in Athens denied the reports, claiming their objective was to deflect attention from Israel's internal political crisis.Two IRGC officers were killed in an attack attributed to Israel which was carried out in the Damascus area. The IRGC threatened retribution.Iran condemned the March 24, 2023, American attack in eastern Syria which led to the deaths of pro-Iranian militia operatives. The Iranian authorities announced that World Jerusalem Day, usually held annually on the last Friday of Ramadan, would be held on April 14, 2023.
