Abu Mohammad al-Julani, leader of the Headquarters for the Liberation of Al-Sham, tried to justify the recent military steps against Turkish-affiliated rebel organizations in the Idlib region

Abu Mohammad al-Julani, leader of the jihadi organization the Headquarters for the Liberation of Al-Sham (HLS), granted an interview to the Amjad Video Production Agency (affiliated with the HLS). The interview (a 23-minute video) was given as part of the Dialogue talk show and was entitled The Internal War and the Future of the Arena.

Another ISIS suicide bombing attack targets Americans and Kurds; ISIS threatens more attacks

On January 21, 2019, ISIS carried out a suicide bombing attack using a car bomb against a joint American-Kurdish patrol. The attack occurred near a roadblock west of the city of al-Shaddadi, south of al-Hasakeh (a region east of the Euphrates under Kurdish control).

ISIS Mass-Casualty Suicide Bombing Attack in Manbij and Its Significance (Initial Report)

On January 16, 2019, ISIS carried out a suicide bombing attack in the northeastern Syrian city of Manbij, apparently targeting an American army patrol which included Kurdish fighters. Nineteen people were killed, four Americans, five Kurds and ten civilians. The attack was carried out during the American-Kurdish withdrawal from the city.

The ISIS-controlled enclave on the east bank of the Euphrates River is gradually shrinking. The evacuation of the Kurdish and American forces from Manbij continued. In the Idlib area, the jihadi organization the Headquarters for the Liberation of Al-Sham continues to take over areas controlled by other jihadi organizations and rebel organizations affiliated with Turkey. The United States officially announced that it had begun withdrawing its troops from Syria.

News of Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (January 9 – 15, 2019)

This past week there was a high level of violence during the "return march." In response to the violence, Israeli Air Force aircraft attacked a Hamas post On January 10, 2019, an Egyptian delegation visited the Gaza Strip. In the northern arena Israel announced the end of Operation Northern Shield, carried out to locate and neutralize Hezbollah tunnels penetrating into Israeli territory.
