The Israeli security forces exposed details on the perpetrator of the double bombing attack which was carried out in Jerusalem. The terrorist was inspired by ISIS’s ideology but acted alone. This week, there was an increase in ISIS activity around the world. The organization’s activity focused on Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and Nigeria. In Iraq The Iraqi army sustained fatalities in ISIS attacks in the provinces of Kirkuk and Erbil. In Syria a failed attempt was made by ISIS to break into a prison in Al-Raqqah.

Spotlight on Global Jihad (December 15-21, 2022)

This week, there was a moderate increase in the scope of ISIS’s activity. The hotspots of activity were Iraq and Syria. In Iraq:  Two officers and 10 soldiers and policemen were killed in two separate incidents Eight civilians were killed in an ISIS attack northwest of Baqubah. In Syria:  The US army arrested six ISIS operatives, including a senior leader In Mali, over 100 Al-Qaeda operatives were killed in an exchange of fire between ISIS and Al-Qaeda .

Spotlight on Global Jihad (December 1-7, 2022)

ISIS operatives around the world published their pledges of allegiance to the organization’s new leader. As in recent weeks, ISIS’s relatively moderate activity continued around the world. The hotspots of activity were Afghanistan, Syria, Nigeria and Mozambique. Fighting continued between the Al-Qaeda-affiliated Al-Shabaab and the Somali army.

Spotlight on Global Jihad (November 24-30, 2022)

As in recent weeks, this week as well, ISIS’s activity throughout the world remained moderate. Prominent attacks took place in the Sinai Peninsula, Afghanistan, and Nigeria. The Somali government recorded achievements in fighting against the Al-Qaeda-affiliated Al-Shabaab Organization. ISIS issued hostile messages against the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, calling on its operatives to drive away the polytheists, Jews, and Christians from the Arabian Peninsula An element affiliated with ISIS disseminated a video on social media calling for attacks on Christmas against the “enemies of Muslims” throughout the world.

Spotlight on Global Jihad (November 10-16, 2022)

ISIS supporters threaten to carry out attacks during FIFA World Cup in Qatar. ISIS’s activity throughout the world continued to decrease. Sinai Peninsula: A Sinai Tribal Union fighter was killed in the explosion of an IED activated against a Union force east of Rafah. Syria: Fighting continues between local militias and ISIS cells in the city of Daraa and its environs. Iraq: The Iraqi forces’ counterterrorism activity against ISIS continued, alongside minor ISIS activity. Afghanistan: A Taliban force raided an apartment used by ISIS as a hiding place in Kabul. Five ISIS operatives were killed. Turkey: On November 13, 2022, an IED exploded in central Istanbul. Six people were killed and 82 were wounded. Terrorism financing: ISIS operatives began to use the Tinder dating app (in its South African version only) to fraudulently obtain funds for the organization. The battle for hearts and minds: ISIS merged three media foundations affiliated with it to improve its media network.
