The Iron Swords – The war in the south of Israel (Updated to 1 p.m., October 12, 2023)

IDF forces reported they had control over the area surrounding the Gaza Strip and most of it had been cleared of Hamas terrorist operatives. Meanwhile, IDF fighters continued operating against terrorist squads still in the area attempting to carry out attacks. Israeli Air Force waves of air strikes in the Gaza Strip continued attacking dozens of Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) military. The rocket fire from the Gaza Strip attacking civilian Israeli targets continued. Hamas claimed it had more than 120 hostages. According to reports, the electricity supply was cut off and the hospitals were collapsing under the strain . Israel's north is quiet but tense. UNIFIL and Lebanese army forces reported that they were remaining in the area. Hezbollah continued expressing support for Hamas. Hamas called on everyone who had a weapon, either by virtue of their [formal] occupation or participation in the "resistance" [Palestinian terrorist organizations], to carry out attacks immediately.

The southern sector: IDF activity continued on land, at sea and in the air. In the Israeli villages surrounding Gaza and in the city of Ashkelon there were several clashes with terrorist squads that remained in the area. The Israeli Air Force continued massive air strikes. The Israeli Navy continued its activities to prevent terrorists from leaving the Gaza Strip by sea. Meanwhile, terrorist operatives continued firing rockets at Israel. Hamas and other sources denied that residents of the Israeli villages near the Gaza Strip were massacred, claiming the accusations were fabricated to promote the Israeli narrative. Tensions continued in northern Israel. A number of rockets were fired at the western Galilee settlements. The Hamas' military-terrorist wing claimed responsibility. An antitank missile was fired at an Israeli military vehicle. Hezbollah claimed responsibility. Israeli security forces continued counterterrorism activities. The forces were shot at twice by Palestinian terrorists; no casualties were reported. The President of the United States gave a speech expressing America's full support for Israel. Demonstrations of sympathy for Israel continue, mainly in Western countries, along with a discourse on the worsening humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. The President of Turkey accused Israel of "genocide." Terrorists and militias In Iraq and Yemen stated they were prepared to join the war.

The southern sector: IDF fighters continued battling terrorists in the Israeli villages and IDF posts in the area surrounding the Gaza Strip.. The massive attacks against Gaza from the air, sea and land continued. The terrorist organizations launched rocket barrage after barrage, although fewer than during the first two days. Several people were injured and property damage was reported. Many Gazans sought shelter from the IDF attacks in UNRWA schools.. Hamas also continued to encourage the Palestinians in Judea and Samaria and Israeli Arabs to join the war The northern sector: Tensions rose in the north of Israel after a terrorist squad of Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) operatives infiltrated Israeli territory. Throughout Judea and Samaria there were several attacks and attempts to carry out attacks. Expressions of support and sympathy for Israel continued around the globe, including in several Arab countries. Militias in Iraq and Jihad groups in Syria expressed support for Hamas.

Israeli security forces continued to carry out massive activity in the Gaza Strip on land, in the air and at sea; several hundred targets were attacked from the air. The forces continued searching for and clashing with terrorists who still remained in Israel. In the meantime, Gaza continued firing rockets at Israel's south and center. According to an initial report, in the afternoon several rockets were fired at the north of the country from Lebanese territory. The Israeli ministry of health reported there were 2,586 wounded in hospitals across the country. So far over 800 deaths have been reported. Approximately 150 abducted Israelis are being held captive in the Gaza Strip by Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ). Hamas and the PIJ continue to boast of their "achievements" and try to recruit the Palestinians in Judea and Samaria to join the war. In Judea and Samaria Palestinians attacked and clashed with Israeli security forces several times. Sixteen Palestinians have been killed since the beginning of the war. The Palestinian Authority (PA) is operating in the Arab and international arenas to calm the situation and to help the Gaza Strip.

The Iron Swords – the First Gaza War The war in the south of Israel (Updated to 1 p.m., October 8, 2023)

On the morning of October 7, 2023, hundreds of armed Hamas terrorist operatives breached the border security fence and began pouring into Israel from the Gaza Strip, driving pickup trucks and motorcycle, on foot and using motorized hang gliders, heading towards IDF bases and the Israeli villages surrounding Gaza. To cover the invasion, massive rocket barrages were fired at south and central Israel. As of this writing, IDF forces are still battling terrorists in several towns and villages near the Gaza Strip and the rocket attacks continue. The IDF declared a state of preparedness for war. A few hours after the invasion began, IDF aircraft started attacking Hamas terrorist targets and symbols of the Hamas regime in the Gaza Strip. Apparently Hamas' military-terrorist wing had been planning "Operation al-Aqsa Storm" for several months but very few people knew about it and they successfully kept it secret. So far, Hamas calls for operatives in Judea and Samaria to join the attack have been unsuccessful. The Palestinian Authority (PA) is focusing efforts at the "diplomatic" level and making preparations to help the Gazans.In the northern arena, Hezbollah operatives fired mortar shells at Mount Dov.

Spotlight on Global Jihad (September 14-20, 2023)

This week, there was a decline in ISIS’s activity around the world. The organization’s activity focused on Syria and Africa. In the Idlib area, fighting continued between the forces of the Al-Qaeda-affiliated HTS and the Syrian army. In the desert area, three pro-Iranian militia fighters were killed in an ISIS attack. In Nigeria ISIS attacked Nigerian army targets in the northeast of the country. In Somalia operatives of the Al-Qaeda-affiliated Al-Shabaab continued to attack targets of the Somali army and the forces supporting it. Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger have formed a new defense alliance to jointly fight jihadi terrorist organizations headed by Al-Qaeda and ISIS. Al-Qaeda’s branch in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) renewed the publication of the magazine Sada al-Malahim, apparently to enlist support and operatives. Unofficial media arms affiliated with Al-Qaeda published posters threatening the United States and its allies and Sweden and its “sisters.”
